The mission of the University of Central Florida's Program in Physical Therapy is to cultivate excellence in physical therapist practice through comprehensive and focused doctoral education. The program fosters excellence through its dedication to foundational sciences, clinical skill proficiency, research and evidence-based practice, service and professional duty, and lifelong learning. The program is committed to the development and strengthening of the healthcare community in order to optimize patient care in the dynamic healthcare environment.

The UCF DPT Program promotes lifelong learning and professional development, which is attained through active involvement in professional organizations such as the American Physical Therapy Association. The program is a full-time professional doctoral program requiring completion of 112 credits beyond the bachelor’s degree. The course work is taken in a prescribed sequence over nine semesters which includes a total of 34 weeks of full-time clinical training at various sites around the country. The program faculty consists of both researchers and clinical specialists who actively engage student learning, clinical excellence, and professional development. The program boasts a small to medium sized cohort to promote continuous faculty interaction with students as they progress through the program. UCF’s DPT Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education.

Applicants MUST send official GRE scores to the UCF DPT code 3871 to be reviewed as part of their application. Scores sent to the UCF institutional code will NOT be accepted.

Official GRE scores must be received by PTCAS no later than the program deadline of 11/1/2019 to be accepted.

If the applicant has taken the GRE more than once, the highest test score for each individual component of the exam will be accepted.

Description of supplemental requirements
The University of Central Florida graduate (supplemental) application MUST be completed by December 1, 2019 with supplemental application fee paid. Supplemental Materials, i.e. GRE scores, transcripts, reference letters, etc. DO NOT need to be sent to the university.

A cover letter and resume is required ONLY for applicants who are invited for an on campus interview with faculty. Once requested, the applicant will email requested supplemental materials directly to the program.

General information
The program recommends all prerequisite courses be completed at time of application. Candidates with all prerequisites completed at time of application may be given preference over those still completing courses.

Online courses are not accepted for labs. Coursework older than 10 years not accepted.

No more than two (2) prerequisite courses may be in progress the fall semester and one (1) course the spring semester prior to the year of matriculation. No more than a total of 3 prerequisite courses may be in progress at time of application.

Any updates to fall grades must be received by January 15, 2020 to be considered as part of the program’s admissions decision making process.
