Program Description more...

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Florida Gulf Coast University, with a cohort of 26 students, is housed within the College of Health Professions. The DPT curriculum is centered on active student learning, utilizing mixed methods of instruction including face-to-face, web-based, and hybrid course delivery. Case-based modified problem-based group and individual learning experiences are integrated with contemporary physical therapy practice educational opportunities. Students develop into self-directed learners through the active learning format that characterizes the program – skills that aid them in becoming resourceful scholars and clinicians. In addition to the graduate program in Physical Therapy, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Performance offers undergraduate degrees in both Athletic Training and Human Performance.

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is a vibrant, rapidly growing institution in which a small student-to- faculty ratio and a friendly atmosphere are maintained. FGCU received the 2007 Engaged Campus Award from the Campus Compact and was recognized as the top state university in Florida in its commitment to community engagement. FGCU is located within driving distance of beautiful beaches and natural areas and preserves, including Everglades National Park, and affords residents numerous recreational opportunities.
